We enhance the environment to change behaviors. We change the behavior to improve environments.

Our belief

“How we treat our living environments determines how the environments treat us back. Sometimes people need a gentle push to be reminded that the nature, the cities and the humans are the three elements of what we call life.”

“Our habits are rigid. Only when we are under pressure to change, we face the vast gap between intent and action. Bridging this gap is what we do at Urban Nudges.”

FAQ

What is a Nudge?
A small change in the usual environment can lead to a change in behavior. This is what we call a Nudge. Its purpose is to poke you gently and to involve you in a different type of behavior. A nudge could be the playground around the trash bins, or a tiny parklet that encourages you to chat with your neighbor, or even a ping-pong table to distract youngsters from the sedentary life.
Nudges are a perfect way to change behaviors for good as they motivate people to try a new approach to usual activities. They could address common things like crossing the street in a safe way, free time spending, plastic recycling, urban culture events, etc. Nudges use gamification, humor, creativity, and sometimes a friendly peer pressure. Usually they are cost effective. But what matters most is having an experienced partner to create innovative and efficient nudge for your issue.

If there is a behavior that we want to change, first we start looking for the reasons behind this behavior and the barriers preventing it from a change. Different factors may be involved – sociological, psychological, environmental, or (most frequently) a combination of all three.

After the completion of this analysis and being sure that we understand deeply the problem, we design our nudges. The nudges are our intervention tool to release the change barriers and to impose a change in a friendly and effective way.

Before going on a large scale, we test the nudges and iterate to design the most effective tools that will drive the positive change.

Identify the barriers to change. What are the psychological, social, and environmental factors that are preventing people from changing their behavior?
Design interventions. Develop interventions that address the barriers to change and make it easier for people to change their behavior.
Test and iterate. We test the nudges and then prepare them for scale up and wither adoption.
